Charles Sprague Sargent (April 24, 1841 Boston - March 22, 1927 Jamaica Plain, Mass.), botanist, first Director of the Arnold Arboretum from 1873 to 1927. With Frederick Law Olmstead, he conceived a naturalist design of the arboretum arranged by plant classification.
