Hi Marlorena,
It has a sweet smell about half way between Philadelphus and jasmine, but very unrose-like. I grow it against a south facing tin shed where it likes the scorching sun. This is its third season and it has grown 2m x 2m. Is this the Rosa moschata 'Autumnalis' the Graham Thomas found at Middleton House because I thought that had been around since the sixteenth century?
Andrew.

Well I don't think so... it seems he had it down as 'Princesse de Nassau'... which is what yours is sold as usually...

...I notice you don't get pollen beetles on your roses... no oil seed rape fields nearby obviously, as roses like this get ruined by them... I had 'Secret Garden Musk Climber' which is single flowered moschata hybrid, it starts flowering from end of May and continues right through, but all the flowers were ruined by the beetles... such a shame, it wasn't worth persevering... however, different rose, so....
..thanks for the information on this one... I'm delighted it's doing so well for you now...
