Hi all,
Any idea what this stocky old rose bush might be. The rose was planted by an uncle around the late 1980s (I inherited the house after he died in 1997), the short stockiness of the plant and the very pale pink flowers appear to me to be suggestive of Ophelia or any of its many sports. The growth/type appears to be that of a hybrid tea although it does occasionally cluster-flower. Thoughts anyone?

The plump almost roundish leaflet shape shown in your 2nd image is also one that I associate with the Ophelia tribe.

If your uncle was a real rosarian, there is a chance that he sought out the real 'Lady Mary Fitzwilliam' when Deane Ross' father [Ross Roses] recognised it in the late 1970s. Your plant may not be that rose, but the colour is about the same, the stockiness is similar, and the round leaves seem the same. You need to read all the references on 'Lady Mary Fitzwilliam', which is a fascinating diversion, even if you decide the rose could not be.

Could this rosehip from the plant help with identification?
