Liu et al. (1982) studied the oxygenated portion of Qi Li xiang rose (Rosa banksia normalis) oil and identified following compounds: α-ionone, dihydro α-ionone,...5,6,7,7a-tetra hydro-4,4,7a trimethyl-2 (4H)-benzofuranone, n-hexyle benzoate, benzyl caprate, 1-hexadecane, 2-pentadecanone, benzyl laurate, 9,17-octadecdienal, 1-eicosyne, benzyl arachidate, benzyl myristate, di-n-octyl phtalate, benzyl stearate, benzyl palmitate, benzyl behanate,...

The fruit setting (development of hips) was very poor in the species Rosa borboniana even when selfed (22%). It did not set any fruit when crossed with Rosa damascena either as male or female parent. It was observed that when this species was crossed with the species Rosa centifolia no fruit was developed when used as male but success of fruit setting percentage was very low (4.28%) when used as female parent. This reflects that these two Rosa species had no compatibility with Rosaborbonica. However, a limited success in fruit setting (10%) was observed in the crosses Rosa borboniana x Rosa 'Gruss an Teplitz' and rosa 'Gruss an Teplitz' x Rosa borboniana....

p. 42: Zhaolin et al. (1988) used gas-chromatography and mass spectrometry for analysis of the essential oil and the fragrant volatile oil compound from the Rosa centifolia flowers. 26 compounds were identified from the fragrant volatiles and 35 compounds from the essential oil. Major constituents of the fragrant volatile oil include Phenyl ethanol, Citronellol, Geraniol and Citronellyl acetate.

p. 77: Graph: Flower production...under Faisalabad climatic conditions. Rosa centifolia. [12 to >60 blooms per month January-December with a peak in May with >60 blooms]

p. 123-125: In the Rosa centifolia species an increase in the number of flowers per plant was observed with the increasing temperature, which seems a unique character in roses. The flower production of Rosa centifolia was maximum in the hottest months of the year, i.e. May, June and July...The species, Rosa centifolia performed excellently under Faisalabad climatic conditions and produced fabulous flowering throughout the year. From the results it was recorded that a single plant of rosa centifolia produced about 500 fragrant flowers/year....
...the initiation of leaves followed by an inflorescence is repeated cyclically in Rosa centifolia.....lw concentrations of GAs permit floral induction in Rosa centifolia throughout the growing season.

Rosa damascena produced flowers only in the months of March and April but as the temperature increased, it stopped producing flowers....From the present results it was revealed that Rosa damascena produced flowers only for 7 to 8 weeks....
It may be concluded that floral induction in Rosa damascena is permitted shortly after bud break in spring when concentrations of GAs are low and is inhibited by the subsequently higher levels of GAs.
