Allow me to point to the fact that the second Horticultural Director of the Botanical Garden in Nikita was "Nikolaus Ernst Bartholomeus Anhorn von Hartwiss". Николай Андреевич Гартвис is only the Russian form of his name. Should you want to opt for the Russian version it is common practice to use accurate transliteration. A mere transcription doesn't help as it is nearly impossible to trace back to the spelling in the source language. For transliteration of cyrillic script the UN recommends ISO 9. Accordingly the proper transliteration is: Nikolaj Andreevič Gartvis.
