IThe first goal of my breeding program is to impart more cold hardiness into the large flowered varieties - hybrid teas, floribundas, large flowered climbers. A close second is to increase disease resistance and emphasize horizontal disease resistance. Other goals include hardier and healthier minis, well branched and rounded plant structures that range from 2-4 feet in height and reduced thorns. Bloom form and color are at the rear at this stage of my program, although a uniquely shaped or colored bloom is always welcome.
