[From Year Book of the Rose Society of Ontario 1928, p. 43:] A great loss to the rose world occurred on the 22nd of October when Mr. Alexander W. Montgomery, of Hadley, Mass., passed away. He and his father were the originators of many of the finest Hybrid Tea roses - Hadley, Mrs. Chas. Russell, Templar, Crusader, Pricilla, were some of their most successful discoveries. His latest Hybrid “Talisman,” a seedling of Pernet and Butterfly, is expected to be disseminated next year. His death at the early age of 52, will be regretted by all rose lovers.
