French gardener for the Shah of Iran (19th century). According to a HMF user, "he was born January 30 1850 at Sallanche, Haute Savoie, and died early in 1934 at Tallence, Gironde.

O Instituto, 1907, p. 250:] Pissard absolved the Ecole d'Agriculture in Igny in 1866, worked at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris 1866-70, was in military service (Siege of Paris, Algeria), again at the Jardin des Plantes until 1878, in Persia 1878-1881 ("during my stay I introduced different plants of which several where dedicated to me, among other the
Prunus Pissardii well-known in Europe")..In 1887 went to Lisbon as chief gardener of the Jardin de l'Estrella, where he was still employed in 1907.

Le mystère du Prunier de Pissard: "...Ernest François Pissard, médaillé de 1870, Officier du mérite agricole, Chevalier du Christ de Portugal et de l'ordre royal de Villaviciosa, est né en 1850 à Sallanches (74). Fils de Claude-Marin Pissard et de Josephte Marie Bel, il est horticulteur, comme son père. Bien que d’origine Savoyarde, il vécut à Paris et se maria en 1884 avec Marie Cécile Henry.
En 1880, son oeuvre terminée ; M. Pissard, généreusement rémunéré, rentra en France. Il s'installa à Arcachon dans un chalet situé Boulevard de la Plage près des Pêcheries Nouvelles. Il y ramena un plant nouveau, que l’on nomma le « Prunier de Pissard »..Ernest François Pissard s’est éteint à Talence (33) en 1934, à l’âge de 84 ans...."
