[From "The Chronicle and Directory for China, Japan & the Philippines for the Year 1869", Hong Kong, p. 260:] Yokohama...Textor & Co., merchants..C. J. Textor (absent)

[From "The American Neptune", 1957, p. 222:] In the fall of 1870, Walsh Hall and Co. purchased C. J. Textor [ship] and Ta Pang Nyo, formerly owned by Textor & Co., a German firm in Yokohama. The former was a Composite screw vessel of 448 tons, built at Sunderland in 1869 for Textor and Co.

[From "Royal Cabinets and Auxiliary Branches: Origins of the National Museum of Ethnology", by Rudolf Effert, Leiden 2008, p. 140:] ...the majority was sent from Japan by C.J. Textor. He worked for Von Siebold in Japan, especially to send botanical products to the Netherlands. Leemans wrote that Textor "worked for a Long time in Japan to collect seeds and plants...was also assigned by the Ministry of Colonies to ship products and examples of art and industry, and whose knowledge could be considered important to Dutch trade and manufactory".
