Carl Schmitt (March 17, 1841 Kiedrich - February 12, 1914 Eltville ), nurseryman, established his nursery in 1871 in Kiedrich near Eltville on the Rhine (near Wiesbaden). [From Rangliste der Edelsten Rosen, 1883:] Schmitt, C., nurseryman in Eltville am Rhein. [From Die Gartenwelt, 1931, p. 174:] ..not well known in the reich is the rose nursery of Wilhelm Bellinghausen in Kiedrich near Eltville. Mr. Bellinghausen, who can soon look back to 50 years of experience, was a long-time manager at Dahs & Reuter. A few years before start of the war, he took over the former Schmitt rose nursery in Kiedrich and scraped through war, occupation and inflationary times....
