Hi Connie, yes ma'am! All thirteen buds opened and were very nicely scented. I was impressed with how large they were for such a young plant. Their crepy petals were quite lovely. The coloring was unexpected and also lovely. The plant put out its flush of growth in spring, flowered and is now seeming stalled. It's completely healthy so far. I'm waiting for it to indicate it wants to grow more. I attempted pollinating all but one of the blooms and sent pollen to several friends in the Rose Hybridizers Association for them to freeze and use once their areas warmed. None of my pollinations succeeded. That could be due to the immaturity of the plant, the wildly varying weather, the incompatability of what I tried it with, or it could just be sterile or otherwise resistant to accepting pollen. I plan to keep trying as flowers occur next spring. Check the photos on the rose page for images of what it looked like here. I'm thrilled Dr. Mills is once again available and people are enjoying him in their gardens around the world. Thank you to Hans and Bierkreek for all they've done to obtain and spread him around and to Anne Belovich for bringing him home.

Traded cuttings last year with a US friend who imported it. Since Dr. Van Fleet is my favorite rose hybridizer, I am thrilled to have added this to my collection of his roses.

Kim Rupert attended me towards this rose and I became one of "De Bierkreek", that got budwood from Scandinavia. The rose will flower any day soon. It does well too, when budgrafted. On a Belgian site some very nice photo's: http://annetanne.be/kruidenklets/2012/05/17/dr-e-m-mills/

Yes and no. While it is not "currently available", Oratam is still available from Vintage as "custom root". And, it may show up as "currently available" again during the next two years that Vintage is planning on staying in business.

Yes, I bought my Oratam rose from Vintage Gardens. HMF shouldn't give out the information that this rose is available at Vintage Gardens if it is not available at Vintage Gardens.

It is the nursery's responsibility to keep their HMF availablility list up to date. For the most current information, visit the nursery's web site or call them to check their inventory to make sure they have this rose ... or any other rose you want.

My original comment that Oratam is not available at Vintage Gardens nor at Euro Desert Roses seems to be deleted. Euro Desert Roses no longer exists and shouldn't be in the list of where one can(not) buy any rose. I couldn't find Oratam on the Vintage Gardens website, but now it seems to be there.

HMF is run by volunteers; there are too many demands on their time to be able to keep nursery listings up to date, so they need the nurseries to do that for themselves. You will have seen on Vintage Gardens' website that they're winding down towards closure some time in 2013, so if you want anything on their website, don't delay.
