I think i found this rose in the Garden at Britz in Berlin Germany however this rose was at least 180cm high an about the same width. The Plant was growing havily suckers up to a distance of 150cm. I took one of these, which emerged in the nearby grass and it developed well in my garden. Either Glory of Edsell kann grow much bigger than described or there is a very very similar rose that grows bigger.

Feb.2010.
just discovered that description says "sets hips"! Mine definitely does not set hip. Now I am even more in doubt if mine is indeed Glory of Edsell, but still could not finde a better match.

My plant is grafted. Last summer, after being mulched heavily over newspaper, it grew very vigorously. Very tall canes to 1.5m and more, almost climbing. It has an occasional repeat bloom.

My plants grow on the northern and eastern side of my house. They are approaching 300 cm with the very long canes bending over elegantly as long bows. They don't get any fertilizer. They are suckering heavily. Occasional rebloom in autumn. This is middle of Germany

Hi,
first of all thank you very much for your great work at hmf!!!!!!
I just tried to reassign a photo from my journal (26.5.13) to a plant WS383.
Now the photo is gone from the journal entry but still not available at the plant.
maybe I made a mistake? Is ther a possibility to keep old journal entries as they arr but still add the photo to a plant?

thanks for your help

Werner

Dear Werner,
I just scrolled through your journal looking for WS383 with the date of May 26, 2013.
Many pages through there are 12 photos of this rose WS383 dated May 26, 2013
If we can help further....
Patricia

Werner - I might have misread your query. I think you want to copy a photo, not move it. I don't think that is possible as the word says "reassign". Perhaps the only way is to reload it again from your computer, direct into the Rose's file.

Dear Patricia,
As you have seen there are some photos of WS383 in my journal. I wanted them to be visible in the "photos" tab of the WS383 plant page.
AS i undertand your last message I could do this by reassigning the photos to the plant, but would lose them in the journal. If there is no other possibility this is O.K. for me.

My initial problem was, i did reassign a photo from the journal to the plant with the result that it is lost in the journal but does not apear in the plants photo page either.

Hi,
I just tried it again. I reassigned the photo http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.225534
from the journal to the plant WS383. Now it is gone from the journal but does not appear in the photo tab of the plant https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.71484.0&tab=36
seems to be bug
regards
Werner

I've just tried it too. I moved your photo (the one with the bee in it) from your March 3, 2013 journal and reassigned it to the rose WS383. Momentarily it seemed to work with the name changing to WS383. But on double checking that it had gone out of your journal page (it had) and going back to the WS383 page, it was missing. Definitely something odd. Admin please help.

After several years of very healthy growth my two PHM plants showed quite havy mildew infestation last year and this year as well. Plants grow thrue it well, but do not look nice and flowers are impaired partly.
I the beginning I thought PHM was completly resistant, so I am bit disapointed now, but PHM is still a great cultivar and a wonder to look at as it covers gardenhuts and half houses in clouds of flowers.

My neighbour a few houses further in the street has this rose too.
In our garden the rose can get as high as it wants and is high up into the sky and healthy. But in the neighbours garden, space is limited to a rose-arch (the rest is pruned off)... and almost no air circulation => Lots of mildew and even black-spot as well.

Yes microclimatic conditions do play a role certainly. One is partly unter a roof but starts growing over the roof in about 6m hight, the other grows over a small gardenhut. The one on the house is more affected.
The other part is probably inoculum, I am suspecting the susceptible American Pillar to produce enough mildew spores to infestate even the rather tolerant PHM.
