The roses Stanwell and Stanwell Perpetual are not the same. Stanwell is much darker and does not rebloom. They were found the same year by the same man. I have both in my garden. I hope to have pics of Stanwell later in the season but if it doesn't bloom this year I will have to wait til next year.

The early references to 'Stanwell' and 'Stanwell References' are both identical and state that these rebloom. Later l'Hay and Sangerhausen had two different roses, of which, one, as you say, does not rebloom. The origin and attribution of the once-blooming variety is obscure.

I have the one from the French National collection. I will compare it to the other red spinosissimas I have.

I have purchased Golden Chersonese at least five different times and none are the real thing. Do you have a sucker you would be willing to share? Do you know where I might find one? You can check my rose list, perhaps I have something that you want.

I would like to change my garden listing. Somehow I have the new garden listed three times. Could you delete all my garden entries so I can upload my new garden?
