I'm Scott Keneda, just your average rose gardener and I maintain a rose blog called Red Dirt Roses at: http://reddirtroses.blogspot.com .
I grow a variety of Hybrid Musk, English, Ralph Moore Miniature and Shrubs, Hybrid Perpetual, and Paul Barden roses. Roses are one of several hobbies including Classical Guitar, Mandolin, Italian Greyhounds, and old VW's. When I am not busy with these and family activities I serve as a United Methodist Minister.
While I grew up around my mother's many miniature roses, I began growing roses myself while in graduate school at Emory University in Atlanta. I mowed yards to pay the bills. Martha Felder was one of the people I worked for. She was in her seventies and had almost 100 roses that she and her husband had cared for in years passed. He had passed away and she needed help so I would spend some portion of every Monday at her home and she would direct me in the care of her roses. Sometimes she worked with me, sometimes she directed me from her chair, but always she made lunch for us, toasted sandwich and soup. Over lunch we would talk, mostly about roses and her church. She taught me a great deal about roses and I have come to love growing them myself.
