Started learning to grow roses in Norfolk, VA, zone 7b or 8, in 2010. Attempted to build great soil for worms and to reduce use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Began no spray Spring 2014. Moved to coastal South Carolina in 2015 and and was partially successful in moving some of my 117 VA roses to SC. Trips back to VA to mow and take care of yard have been a complete surprise in the continued success of the roses. Even with NO spray and once a month watering, the blooms have been better than when I lived there and cared for them all the time. Apparently, the worms like the beds and have been keeping the roses happy ( while the 2015 summer has not been as awfully hot as in previous summers.) Rose society is over two hours from my new home, so only internet to ask questions.
