Planted today: Schoener's Nutkana (from RSABG), Mme Plantier (Greenmantle), Dupontii (Greenmantle), and Kazanlik (Heirloom I think).

For this weekend hope to get into BIG pots Salvia munzii (albino form) and Salvia brandegeei x munzii hybrid. Plant Purshia tridentata (nitrogen fixer) in backyard.

May go by RSABG and pick up Krascheninnikovia lanata (winter fat) for frontyard and Lepechinia fragrans "El Tigre". Take a look at their big Prosopsis pubescens and weigh getting this versus a big Olneya tesota (both nitrogen fixers). See if they can get Zinnia acerosa, antirrhinum multiflorum, sticky green rabbitbush....

Heard from Greenmantle. Will be getting R. hemispherica ‘ Flore-Pleno’ and R. macrantha 'Daisy Hill' from them this year. Yay! Been on waiting list for several years for R. hemispherica.

Planted on May 23, Ceanothus 'Cliff Schmidt' in backyard, and in front yard Baccharis 'Centennial' (from RSABG GNN 50% off sale!, has nifty lime green foliage), Fallugia paradoxa (apache plume an RSABG purchase from earlier this year, charming small single white flowers that look like R. minutifolia flowers, followed by fringey tassels), Erigeron 'Prosperity' (recent purchase Armstrong, grown by Native Sons, bought this one for the "weed" that was included--a small yellow sweet clover--not the Erigeron), and Salvia 'Heatwave Sparkle' (grown by Native Sons, in 4 inch pot, bought to get the real Heatwave Sparkle as the last one turned out to be Heatwave Blaze) planted next to the other Salvia coahuilensis. Both Sparkle and Blaze look beautiful next to their S. coahuilensis'.

Planted on May 22, in backyard, Rosa damascena bifera (from Greenmantle this year) and Salvia 'Heatwave Glitter' (from Santa Rosa Gardens, potted up to 1 gallon from approx. 4 inch received) next to Rosa californica 'First Dawn'.

Planted on May 19 in backyard, Salvia splendens 'Brazilian Purple' (from Armstrong, in 1 gallon pot--meant to buy Amistad but grabbed this one by mistake in the sea of purple flowers display).

Planted on May 17 in pot in frontyard a 1 gallon Salvia munzii (from RSABG's GNN Claremont 50% off sale and foliage smells wonderful), the teeny 1 inch blue flax (GNN Claremont sale), monkey flower 'Jelly Bean Lemon' (4 inch from GNN Claremont sale), and in the backyard the other 1 gallon Salvia munzii (from GNN Claremont sale). The last purchase from May 17, a 4 inch Salvia 'Whirly Blue' is still in its original pot as of 5/26/15.

Planted today 5 from 1 gallon size pots: 2 S. coahuilensis from Armstrong, Agastache 'grape nectar' from Armstrong (potted up for a short time in 4 inch pot, grown by Native Sons), S. 'Heatwave Sparkle' from Armstrong (potted up for a short time in a 4 inch pot, grown by Native Sons), S. muelleri 'Royal Purple' from Flowers by the Sea (potted up for a short time in a 4 inch pot). FBTS is a great Salvia source.

Went to Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden's Grow Native Nursery for their 50%!!! off sale today. Bought 7 plants for $40, including a huge Ceanothus 'Cliff Schmidt' which is regularly $25. Also monkey flower Purple Pink (4 inch the remainder 1 gallons), a mystery yellow monkey flower (bud isn't quite open yet) which probably is Jelly Bean Lemon, chamise (RSABG grown unlike the last one I bought which Moosa Creek grew, the 2 look quite different), virgin's bower clematis, deerweed, and Salvia 'Whirly Blue'.

Planted 3 CA native plants (all 1 gallon size) today purchased at RSABG on Earth Day: Adenostoma fasciculatum (Moosa Creek grown), Philadelphus lewisii 'Marjorie Schmidt', and Ceanothus 'Marie Simon' (Native Sons grown--a CA native cross with a non-native Ceanothus). Still have bushrue but its spot isn't ready. Adenostoma fasciculatum is likely allelopathic to some degree, perhaps I should relocate away from my lemon tree!
