I have had this rose for five years in very heavy clay soil in a hot Mediterranean climate. It is one of the first roses to flower, does not get disease but is, unfortunately, much beloved by the rose chafers that plague all my light coloured roses in Spring. I had read that it does not do well in hot climates, however, that is not my experience.

My rose was bought in Italy where it is known as 'Gufo delle Neve' (Snow Owl in Italian) - perhaps HMF could add this name to the others by which it is known as it is quite widely available here.

I have been growing two plants of this rose in pots for more than twenty years - each in a 50cm 'half round' pot about 60cms tall. I never knew the name of the rose but, last week I posted some photos on the former Gardenweb Antique Roses forum - this is the link to my post -

I wanted to post some photos of what I now believe to be my 'Silver Moon' on Help Me Find but I'm following the advice of one of the forum members to check with HMF admin first as it is still an id based on a photo.

I would be grateful for your guidance.

I was skeptical when I read the words 'growing in pot' but the excellent photos certainly look like 'Silver Moon'.

I tried to upload four photos to HMF. I completed all information required for each upload, added the photo etc. and then clicked on upload. The dialog box went blank and now, more than 30 minutes later, when I check HMF none of my photos were uploaded. Is there a size limit for photos that are uploaded?

I have been advised that pixel size of around 1200 by 1200 and no larger than 4 megabytes works well.

Many thanks Patricia for your prompt response. I subsequently had success when I uploaded a single photo of Queen of Sweden, however, I didn't re-size it to upload. in future I will know to limit the pixel size when exporting from iPhoto.
