Identified another mystery rose from Rogue Valley; "Sunny Side Up"

After 15 years I have finally removed the root stock for a rose that died 15 years ago. I've almost removed it twice but had to stop and it grew back worse each time. this time around I spend several days pruning it down and finally managed to cut underneath and pull it out. I will spend another day or two digging and removing as many of the roots as I can as I don't want it ever coming back.

From now on I will be buying only roses with their own roots. No more grafts. Well, except for tree roses, no avoiding that.

My plan for the south planter along my front walkway to the porch has undergone drastic changes. Originally it was to be a line of hybrid teas with a line of miniatures in front next to the path, all gradually changing color with each one, in an ombre pattern. Due to some unforeseen family drama I now have to plant two fruit trees and some hydrangeas that I originally intended to plant in my Mother's yard. So the roses will have to share their space and they will be different. Instead of the red ones I had planned they will now be mostly yellows. It will be the "dog garden" with Candy, Dolly, Diana and Cuppy all having their roses in front along with mine. Once everything is filled in I'll be adding Calla Lilies and gladiolas. Then after a year or two if there are still empty spots I'll just fill in with annuals.

Meanwhile I will be finishing the raised bed planters. They will be mostly vegetables but there will be a line of miniature roses on that side along the path. I have a variety to choose from. There will be space around the perimeter of the beds so I might be able to fit in even more.

Just purchased from Rogue Valley. Hope this does well on East side of our. The blue of the house as a background should make this pop. Happy to have finally decided on the climber I want.

Old Master is finally blooming. I really like it. It's a single and the blooms don't last long but the color is really lovely. A nice red and it's slightly ruffled so looks soft and fluffy. A bit more informal than your standard hybrid tea. I might try to cross it will Champagne Cocktail or Little Artist if I ever learn how to hybridize roses. All of my cuttings have died. Some of them looked like they might make it but no. At least my Champagne Cocktail survived the repotting. It has some great new growth. I'm not sure about my Rosie O'Donnell. It's possible all of the new grown are suckers and the original rose died. It's hard to tell. I'll have to wait for a bloom to see.

Have just identified mystery rose from Rogue Valley Nurseries. Lord Penzance. Out of stock with them but I have one and for free. Very pretty but might get big. 6-8 feet tall and just as wide. Not sure where I'll put it but it's so small it will live in a pot for a while.

Not very happy with "For the Love of Roses". I placed an order with them in January and they never shipped. I finally contacted them March 26 and they said they're not shipping anything due to Covid-19. While I understand that why didn't they ship before the lock down? The weather is just fine here. Was it really that bad in Tennessee? I paid top money too, almost double what they cost elsewhere. $220 worth of miniature roses. I got all of my other roses. I don't want them telling me it's too late to ship when this is over, then later that what I want is out of stock. Some of those roses are only available from them. And several of them I need to complete my landscaping plan. From now on I may have to stick to growers in California which would be a shame as the varieties available in California are limited.
