I'm a fanatical garden that gets extreme pleasure out of my packed Pacific Northwest English garden. I like the tapestry look, so I plant close together with multiple layers, including lots of hardy bulbs. I love shrubs & perennials, with a new passion for rose shrubs. I do not spray anything. We get 33 in rain per year, Oct through June, with dry summers, July thru September. Temperatures are cool with moderate humidity and cool nights. 85 degrees F is very hot for us. I have an automatic drip irrigation system. I have very small, 2 vacant lots plus 2 house lots, all adjacent to each other to garden on. I make a new bed each year as I slowly bring jungle or lawn under cultivation. I'm a plantaholic and belong to several very good local gardening societies. I buy locally & mail order extensively. I love garden visitors. i've done extensive research on disease resistant roses suitable for no spray and being packed into a garden with other plants. I probably have 100 roses and am always buying more to incorporate into new beds. I don't coddle any of my plants except with water. They get initial amended soil and mulch, but once established the beds are generally too thick for additions of mulch.
