Vintage Gardens' 'Hotel Royal' is not the same as this rose. It's listed as a 1980 Sam McGredy product. Their description is the "cameo pink shot with coral" that follows the "red" description of the color for this other 'Hotel Royal' (1972, McGredy, aka 'Grand Hotel'). I bought one a few years ago from Vintage and I'm very pleased with it. It's a vigorous climber and it is indeed "cameo pink shot with coral." The blooms are semi-double and carried in small clusters.

Thank you, Michael. At one time Hotel Royal was only listed as another name for Grand Hotel, but the description didn't match. I'm glad Hotel Royal now has an entry of its own..

Thank, Patricia. She did all the ground work. I just followed up, because I noticed no reply to an un-answered dilemma :D

Then thank you very much, Patricia. I was finally able to add a photo to the correct entry.

I would like to search a little more on 'Hotel Royal' - the lack of references is a little worrying - but can't for the next few days. I now have Sam McGredy's mostly handwritten records but it does take a lot of searching and the eyes aren't too happy lately. Hopefully I will get back to you with more news on 'Hotel Royal'.

Hi Zuzu, According to the extensive listing of roses in your garden, it appears you might have Mme. Jean Gaujard. I fell completely in love with this rose when I saw it at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, and am looking for a source for cuttings. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

There are two listings for KORdehei in the HMF database. One for a rose otherwise known as Heidelinde and another for Malverns. The description of Malverns as a red floribunda seems suspect because other sites describe it as a pink floribunda or groundcover shrub and also identify Malverns as another name for Heidelinde. Shouldn't the two entries be combined?

I had a small search and could not find any reason why not. Done. Thanks Zuzu.

Such a shame this has not yet been corrected. I grow Escimo rose bush purchased threw Northland Rosarium back when they carried it. It is indeed a lovely single white flower. Has shinny leaves any very disease resistant here in northern Illinois. In our worst winters there is little to no cane left. Yet she grows to around a 4 foot height with a 10 to 12 foot spread. Continuous bloom if dead headed difficult to do with so many flowers. Blooms in flushes without removing spent flowers. Shall post a picture here this upcoming season so that people can see both roses.

There's no need for correction. This is the entry for the Escimo floribunda (KORcilmo). The Escimo shrub (exhibition name: Silver Ghost) with the single blooms is KORmifari. They are two different roses.
