Rose received as Cherub - leaflets
Uploaded 20 DEC 22 |
This is "Rose received as Cherub".
Both "Rose received as Blush Rambler" and "Rose received as Cherub", have some canes with these rather delightful spheres of blossom that look like floral pom poms.
The roses are in different situations. "Received as Blush Rambler" grows on an open bank with no support, this one grows in a semi-shaded position against a tree with other strong ramblers.
I can see no difference between them, other than the way they are occupying their respective spaces.

Our Laurette was budded from the plant growing in the Heritage Rose Garden in Pinjarra. The plant at Pinjarra was donated by South Australian nurseryman, Walter Duncan, who had collected it from a surviving plant growing the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in the 1960s.
The blooms bruise easily and are often spotted.

While the canes and stems are often completely unarmed, Laurette has small, sharp prickles under the leaves.
