J. Benjamin Williams and Associates, breeders of this rose, set us straight on the story behind the naming of it. Here's what they say: The' Spirit of Ocean City' rose is named and dedicated to Ocean City, New Jersey NOT Maryland. May 4th, 2002, is their city-wide opening and grand festival where the roses will be exibited and sold for a limited time. It is an annual event.

[The blossom is red with a gold reverse.]
