'Paul Neyron' rose References
Book  (1935)  Page(s) 177, 180.

Page 177: Antoine Levet, of Lyons, France, gave the world 'Paul Neyron' in 1869, and the more choice but less-prevailing 'François Michelon' in 1871.
Page 180: Paul Neyron Hybrid Perpetual. 1869 'Anna de Diesbach' and 'Victor Verdier' ...almost without prickles... deep rose-pink with a dash of lilac, much like 'La Reine' but, point to point, bigger and more handsomely furnished... 'Paul Neyron' chooses to live long in old gardens and is likely to be met with almost anywhere. When you see the biggest rose you ever saw in an old garden, most likely it is 'Paul Neyron'.
Magazine  (Jun 1934)  Page(s) 73.

Hybrid Perpetual Roses
Paul Neyron. (L. Levet, 1869.) Dark, lilac-rose blooms of immense size, fair form, very double, and remarkably fragrant. Quite vigorous, strong, almost smooth canes with tough, leathery foliage; particularly free and constant bloom.
When well-grown, probably the largest of all Roses, but quite shapeless, and not always clear color. Grows tall and makes a fair pillar. One of the best in this class.

Paul Neyron (Levet, 1869). When some ignoramus rushes up to the huge purplish-pink roses seen in public parks and exclaims, "See them American Beauties!" you may be pretty sure that the variety is really 'Paul Neyron'. It is enormous and shapeless, but very dependable and fragrant. Blooms in fall.
