[In "The Hybrids of the Burnet Roses"]: harisonii: R. foetida harisonii, 'Harison's Yellow'; R. lutea hoggii, 'Hogg's Double Yellow Briar'. These 'other names' show the confusion which exists as to who raised the rose...., but they conceal the confusion as to whether or not this rose is the same as 'Williams' Double Yellow' and about which Shepherd's History of the Rose devotes some 1,200 words. Bunyard says the 'Harrisonii' [sic] is sometimes confused with the 'Persian Yellow' 9R. foetida persiana)....I follow Graham Thomas, who regard those green carpels of 'Williams' Double Yellow' as conclusive against the yellow stamens of R. harisonii and accordingly accepts the latter as a different variety....

Personal correspondence Robert Erskine to Walter Schowalter:
I have been told by other experts that the Harison Yellow will not get seeds from pollen of native roses. Yet I am reasonably sure that one seedling here is an Harisonii x R. acicularis cross. I suppose such cases could be called amateurs luck.

*HARISON'S YELLOW - a very old rose that needs no description. Hardy most winters as far north as Saskatoon, but lives only to the snow line at Moose Range."

[Manuscript of 189?]
Because of all the varieties of R. lutea only R. Harrisonii has the ability to fruit in our area, special attention needs to be paid to the hybridization of this kind. Notes:
1. In dry summers it brings completely full and mature seeds by October 1.
2. It is pretty easy to pollinate with other types of roses.
3. Raise a crop of 5% in the second year.
a) must be pollinated by Harrisonii (mother) pollen Teas - Alupka, Beauté d'Europe. Gloire de Dijon in order to obtain more hardy tea roses, Bourbons, Louise Odier and other Noisettes: Perle d'Or, Bouquet d'Or.

Harison's Yellow. R. x Harisonii, a cross between R. foetida and spinosissima. It has been cultivated so long and is so wide-spread in Canada that its pale yellow semi-double blooms are familiar to all.
