I wonder if any of you experts out there can help me. I bought my father who is very ill a small bunch of roses from Waitrose and he loves them so much I would like to track down the variety and buy a bush if possible. They are described as Long Stem Kenyan Roses (P) and when in bud they look white with a dark pink edge to the petals - when they open they come out dusky pink inside. They have small glossy leaves and small but sharp thorns. Not much to go on but if you can help....

what causes different colors in roses? Does moisture affect the pigments?

Humidity can alter color.  So can nutritients, temperature -- many environmental factors affect bloom color.

I live in south Texas. I would like to know what nutrients my roses may be lacking. Could not watering often enough cause this? Neglect? Improper pruning?

All of the things you mentioned are covered in very good detail in various sections of the site. The best place to start would be to use the search facility for both the Q&A and the Ezine.
