I'm getting married early April in East London, South Africa. My colour scheme for the wedding is purple and green. I would like to know what flowers are in season to match my colour scheme.

Christelle.........

First let me say congratulations and give you best wishes on your upcoming marriage.

You can do an advanced search here on the HelpMeFind site. Just click on roses, then click advanced search near the top of the search page. Then under bloom form, select bloom form and then select the color mauve. Click continue on the bottom of the page and click the search button. All roses with all shades of purple will come up with links to their rose page. Have fun viewing the photos users have put up on the site for all to view.

Smiles,

Lyn

[From Growing Old-Fashioned Roses, by Trevor Nottle, p. 9:] roses have been grown in Cape Province since 1658 when they were imported from Europe. Jan van Reinbeck noted in his Journal on 1 November 1659: "This day the first rose was plucked at the Cape from one of the rose trees that arrived here last year."
