SE England, mid-June 2025. The buds on this variety appear stunted, scrunched and generally unpropitious, then transform into things of beauty like these. Sadly, the fully developed flower has the fault of acquiring the dreaded (by me) bagel look (a fault it shares with many other wavy-petalled varieties — especially in the floribunda class — that have a tendency to open out on a perfect horizontal plane and expose the stamens).
