Class: Gallica / Provins, Hybrid Perpetual.   
Bloom: Light pink, violet stripes, purple stripes, white flecks.  Flowers intense rose pink.  Strong fragrance.  up to 45 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Medium to large, very full (41+ petals), cupped, globular bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.   
Habit: Height: 4' to 5' (120 to 150cm).  Width: 4' to 5' (120 to 150cm).
 
Growing: USDA zone 5b through 10b.   
Patents: Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind). 
Notes: Bred 1864 and introduced 1874 as 'Commandant Bearepaire', a once-blooming Gallica. When the plant start reblooming a few years later, re-introduced in 1878 as 'Panachée d' Angers', this time as an HP - see References. |
