p44 Auckland Rose of the Year Award. The popular red climbing rose Dublin Bay, bred by Sam McGredy and introduced in 1975, has won the 1993 Auckland Rose of the Year Award. 'Dublin Bay' was among 146 varieties bidding for the title and growing at Auckland Botanic Gardens. All roses were judged on their appeal on the day by about 150 personalities, horticultural trade folk, rose lovers and Friends of the Auckland Botanic Gardens. The highest score possible was 10 points.
