ROSA alba, Var. flore pleno.
White Rose, double-flowered Variety.

SPECIFIC CHARACTER. Rose with smooth egg-shaped seed-buds and hispid peduncles; flowers white, with numerous petals; leaflets ovate and pointed, with serrrated margins; stem between erect and spreading, nearly smooth on the upper part, and furnished with strong spines towards the base.

Our figure of the White Rose exhibits an appearance of novelty, as one of the flowers represents a tie or knot in the middle, and which we have never before seen in the double white rose, the petals of which are numerous, but loose, with a few straggling stamens in the centre. Of these variations in the flowers there were many instances in the plant from which our drawing was made in the nursery of Messrs. Whitley and Brames in 1810.
