Does this rose flower most of the summer? Does it fade quickly?

Compassion does repeat well. It is a subtle color, and in the hottest summer months, it does fade. A little mid-day filtered shade helps a lot. I have one facing north on a wire fence that provides just enough filtering to greatly diminish fading. A second plant in dawn to dusk sun does fade in late June and July.

I love how BS resistant and vigorous and great bloom producer this rose is and its perfume is so wonderful....But the nightmare with Compassion is that the sun (from June until the end of September) completely washes out my Compassion to white! It's in partial sun too! During the afternoons, the large shadow of the house is supposed to keep it shielded, but to no avail....Just the morning sun is enough to "dump bleach" on its blooms during Midwest blazing summers...In fall Compassion regains back some of the peaches, but this does not occur as rapidly as it should....

I have had Compassion in my garden for about 20 years. It was my first and only rose for many years, performing wonderfully blooming June to November every year. The scent here is not as strong as I would like, but it is a very reliable rose in my 5b zone garden.

I agree that 'Compassion' is a great rose. I grow it in zone 6 and it took a few years to build up sufficiently to not be affected by the winter cold. It grows stiff and upright for me to about 6' with nice thick canes. The flowers are a spectacular blend of pinks to orange, are double, open fully to show a golden ring of stamens, and come in large sprays. 'Compassion' seems to loose very little foliage and is one of my best looking roses late in the season. The blooms come all summer. It is truly an outstanding rose.

Compassion repeats very often in my garden, and gives a lot of very nice and smelling roses. I planted it in a very big plant-tub (about 1,5mx0,80 m, and 0,80 m high) and that is not the best place to grow. it grows very big, thick and rigid, not easy to place. flowers are wonderfull in arrangements, lasting several days. colors are changing, if the weather is hot or not, but always very nice. because of the plant tub, that is not perfect, it sometimes gets powdery mildew, but not too much, and only in end of september. I absolutely recommand it highly !!!

Now if you go to The Uncommon Rose's website as a retail purchaser you're directed to Rogue Valley Roses, so what The Uncommon Rose sold is now apparently available at Rogue Valley Roses.
