....Before this, the accepted rose for forcing was 'Ophelia' and her famous family, and when Jackson and Perkins produced Zorina in 1966, it was a new start for breeders. Hundreds of thousands of plants of this variety were planted all over Europe; it was a real jackpot of a rose.

The Final Analysis 1972-73 Season.
Zorina 6.9 (Boerner, '63). Rome Gold Medal '64. A very compact and healthy bush of 42in. high. Lovely HT type florets of grenadine red which fade as blooms age. Burns badly in hot sunshine. This was bred as a glass house rose so we cannot really expect it to come up to Gold Medal standard outside in our climates.
