Does anyone know if this rose would do well in a large pot? Thanks.

Unless you live in cold climate, I think this is way too large and vigorous for a pot. But I could be wrong -- with proper pruning, and a REALLY big pot, it could work.

I have EVS planted in a really big pot since ca. February, and it's doing great. By big, I mean ca. 18" in diameter. There is an EVS across the street trained over an arch and it's huge, but this one is happy enough and the pot buys me time for a year or two while I figure out the backyard.

I found a post in Gardenweb by someone who grows 4 of these in partial shade. She stated that it has a great scent, almost thornless. Rogue Valley Roses listed it hardy to zone 4. I got mine from Burlington Roses, my own-root is almost thornless, the flowers have a fabulous scent, with excellent repeat.

There may be an error somewhere on this. My Excellenz that I got from Vintage has a good, strong fragrance as opposed to "none" listed here. Also, the photos in HMF fall into two categories, pink and mauve. Mine is the more mauve color. Is it possible that there are two different roses here?

So far I've given this rose two years. I live in Oregon, so it's not a particularlly hot sun, but the blooms seem to be very short lived and bleach as soon as they come out. The pictures of this rose are so beautiful though, that I just keep hoping that it will be so prolific, I won't care.

A lot of Hybrid Musk roses can take a surprising amount of shade and/or partial sun, and this may be one of them. I have mine planted in a place where it gets 1/2 day of sun in the morning, and it's very happy and doesn't fade. That's in Northern California.
