My favourite rose. Flowers deep cupped (not flat for me as in the description) with reflexed lower petals, and almost perfectly quartered. Buds start out quite dark pink, and flowers open very light pink, aging through to a clean white. The fragrance is heavenly and exceptionally strong- my favourite of all roses. I suppose if I screwed up my nose it could be vaguely like aniseed, but really I can't compare it to anything.
Only bad point is the vigour. This rose is very slow growing and reluctant to make new basal breaks. Mine is grafted on multiflora, I believe. Despite this low vigour, it flowers at every chance it gets, and is surpisingly disease resistant. I have never seen black spot or powdery mildew on it, despite those being the worst diseases here in NZ. It does get a very small amount of rust, which is quite unusual here; most of my roses are entirely rust-free.

Needs to be grafted, weak on own roots in my experience. We did a trial 15 years ago at the fort worth botanic gardens, two identical beds of Austin roses except one was own root and one grafted. MOST of the cultivars performed best grafted with a few exceptions.
