Alex Ross. Ashton, South Australia. Polyantha Roses. The first group will be of the Cecile Brunner type........ The flowers are borne in long sprays and are perfect miniature Roses, resembling a well-formed H.T. in shape. The best and most popular of these are Cecile Brunner, Perle d’Or, Tip Top, Sunshine and George Elgar, and they are much sought after and are especially valuable for floral work.

Mr. W. H. Dunallan directs attention to this deservedly popular little Polyantha Rose: What a pity the Polyantha Rose, Tip Top, is not better known. It is just about the prettiest break in colour imaginable, and of true dwarf nature.

Alick Ross. Rose Growing in the Adelaide Hills. .....And we must not forget what I consider the true miniature, the so-called buttonhole rose, Cecile Brunner, Perle d’Or, Tip Top, George Elgar and Borderer being the most outstanding.

Polyantha Roses
Polyanthas are, perhaps the most truly everblooming of all Roses, being scarcely ever out of flower during the whole growing season... They are especially valuable for massing, edging, and to some extent for mingling with other flowers.
Tip-Top. (P. Lambert, 1909.) Well-shaped buds and reflexed flowers of pink and coppery yellow, tipped with rose. Small growth and continuous bloom.
Very different from all others; desirable, although the growth is generally very weak. A charming sort when the flowers are good, and worth growing for trial at least. It seems to vary considerably in adaptability, some growers reporting complete failure with it and others astonishing success.

Dwarf Polyantha Roses

Tip-Top (P. Lambert, 1909): a very charming combination of yellow, pink, and white in the bud, but the open flowers are white or pale pink and without form. It is rather tender, and such a poor grower that I consider it almost worthless.
