Class:
Hybrid Gallica.  
Bloom:
Carmine-pink, lilac shading, light pink outer petals.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, button-eye, globular, quartered bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Upright.  

Height: 18" to 2' (45 to 60cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 8b.

Notes:
Said to be similar to 'Grand Monarque'. 'Great Royal', 'Pivoine des Hollandais' etc. are not synonms, but distinct roses.
