Introduced in Australia by F. C. Davis in 1862 as 'Grandissima'.

Bloom:
Cherry-red, mauve flecks.  Mild fragrance.  Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped, globular, quartered bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Medium green, dense foliage.  3 to 5 leaflets.

USDA zone 4b through 8b.
