Origin:
Bred by Samuel Darragh (1932-2019) McGredy IV (1973).
Introduced in New Zealand by McGredy Roses International (New Zealand) in circa 1981 as 'Waitemata'.
Class:
Miniature.  
Bloom:
Red blend.  Crimson (or flame scarlet) with white eye. Many exposed stamens. Resembles a carnation. Narrow petals.  Mild fragrance.  up to 42 petals.  Rosette bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:

Height: 1' to 20" (30 to 50cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

According to the New Zealand Plant Variety Rights (PVR) web page, application for a PVR Grant for this rose was made in 1978 and granted in 1980 (PVR Grant No. 102. This PVR Grant was surrendered in 1995.
