Honor has been growing for me 10 yrs. I've moved it four times, and have hauled it 900 miles. In the SF Bay area this rose grows very tall (7-8'). I had to get a ladder out to prune a couple of times. In Eastern WA it is happy to stay about 3-4'. Severe winter weather (-20f) will freeze this rose to the ground. It happily tosses up new canes in the Spring. This is my favorite white garden rose.

I grow 'HONOR' in Silicon Valley, CA and it is very tall(7 ft) and very fragrant !!! The stems are quite long, so it looks exquisite in my Waterford vase!! Everyone loves to see it, either in the yard or in the vase! I spray it every 3 weeks with MiracleGro and water frequently. It is my favorite 'white' HT, definitely worth the effort. It blooms here even around St Nicklaus day(Dec 6) when I pair it with 'Mr Lincoln' for a holiday effect. --K Haas

I had admired in Honor in catalogue photos but never considered it because it is said to have only slight fragrance. When I came across one blooming at a local nursery, I found the fragrance quite present, so I brought it home. All season I got exquisite and respectably fragrant blooms, but alas, it died during the first winter (zone 5? ). I replaced it last fall and am waiting for late April snow melt to see if it survived. Does anyone grow this successfully in a cold area? This is Hokkaido (the northern island of Japan) with quite cold and long winters but with over a meter snow cover.

Cut back to just above a five leaf. Honor is one of the truest white roses I have grown, but unfortunately in my Maryland garden, it is just not a vigorous plant.
