Bred by William Paul (1822-1905) (United Kingdom, before 1863).
Introduced in Australia by Joseph Harris, South Yarra Nurseries in 1865 as 'Lord Macaulay'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Scarlet - crimson.  Moderate fragrance.  Very large, full (26-40 petals), globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 4a through 5b.
