Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1885).

Hybrid Macrantha, Hybrid Setigera.

Armed with thorns / prickles, climbing, upright.  Dense foliage.
Height of 9' 10" to 13' 1" (300 to 400 cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Hardy.  vigorous.  a good subject for pegging.
Notes:
Aurelia Liffa was the mother-in-law of Geschwind's sons. - see References.
According to Erich Unmuth, it is questionable whether 'Aurelia Liffa' in gardens and in commerce is the original Geschwind rose - see References. It is possibly identical to 'Mme Arthur Oger'.
The rose growing by this name at the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden may be the same as 'Geschwinds Orden'. And a correspondent via the Internet says this rose is a Hybrid Setigera.
