Origin:
Bred by Jean Laffay (France, 1839).
Introduced in France by Victor Verdier et fils in 1841 as 'Rivers'.
Introduced in Australia by John Baptist in 1861 as 'Rivers'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Carmine-pink, lilac shading, crimson shading.  Large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, flat bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
5 to 7 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Parentage:
Notes:
The breeding year of 1832 reported by Cochet and Jäger is most probably incorrect.
