Bred by George Paul (1841-1921) (United Kingdom, 1872).
Introduced in Australia by Edwin Smith, Clifton Nursery in 1885 as 'Reynolds Hole'.

Bloom:
Dark brown - red, scarlet shading.  Maroon.  Large, double (17-25 petals), flat, globular bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

USDA zone 4a through 5b.
