p66 [photo] ‘Angelita’ McGredy 1982. ‘Moana’ x ‘Snow Carpet’. Creamy white rosette-shaped blooms repeat quickly and make a lovely display. Excellent for hanging baskets, on a bank or a larger rockery, ‘Angelita’ also looks spectacular as a weeping standard. Has a good repeat in autumn that is missing in ’Snow Carpet’ and the bloom is a little larger. Doesn’t spread quite as far as ‘Snow Carpet’.

p119 One of the seedlings that survived was ‘Angelita’ (‘Moana’ x ‘Snow Carpet’) which won a Gold Star of the South Pacific at the New Zealand Trial Grounds in 1982 and a Gold Award at the International Trial Ground in Dublin in 1983. Unfortunately ‘Angelita’ was sterile, so he went back to ‘Snow Carpet’ and now there is this further improvement in a vigorous pink groundcover.

'Angelita' is a step on the way along the 'Snow Carpet' path. It has better foliage, carries twice as much flower, repeats easily, and really is something of a miracle.....One year I had two seedlings which flowered profusely on the bench and retained their dwarf spreading habit. They were being smothered by the surrounding seedlings, so I lifted them carefully and transplanted them to more spacious quarters.....The creamy pink 'Angelita' thrived to tempt me further along the path. It but rarely sets seed, and then one to a pod. An occasional flower will have one stamen with golden pollen. I'll persist.

E. F. Allen, Awards To New Rose Seedlings In Great Britain In 1984.
'Snowball', a miniature ground cover rose, by Sam McGredy, with lovely tiny dense foliage and small many-petalled white flowers. I judge it to be a most useful plant for a small garden or for pot work and I have already planted two myself. In the U.K. it is being marketed on its own roots. Trial Ground Certificate.

'Angelita'. MACangeli. McGredy 1982. 'Moana' x 'Snow Carpet'. The creamy-white-tinged pink flowers of this healthy groundcover plant repeat quickly and make a most attractive display, whether planted to smother weeds, tumbling over walls or down banks, or as a container or hanging basket plant. A very good variety of its type.
