Gavin Martin. My Climbing Roses.
Of all the roses I grow, 'Guinee' is my favourite. Its colour is unusual among dark red roses in having no suggestion of purple such as one finds in 'Etoile de Hollande' or 'Ena Harkness'. It also has a most wonderful depth of colour, like velvet.....The blooms are a good shape at every stage, opening to show the stamens. They are of a good size, four to five inches across (most important in a climbing rose), and as a final bonus, they have a gorgeous scent.....
