Exhibition name: Herz As ® (hybrid tea, Tantau, 1963)
Origin:
Bred by Mathias Tantau, Jr. (1912 - 2006) (Germany, 1963).
Introduced in France by NIRP International in 1964 as 'As de Coeur'.
Introduced in Australia by Treloar Roses in 1966 as 'Ace of Hearts'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Red.  Mild fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Upright.  Dark green foliage.  

Height: 2' to 28" (60 to 70cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Can be used for cut flower.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .  Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection).
