The typical R. foetida is yellow-flowered, but the bicolor form 'Austrian Copper' has the upper surface of the petals a bright orange scarlet and this has yielded many such bicolor cultivars. This species is present in the ancestry of 'Peace' and a few years ago this famous cultivar sported in the McGredy rose fields to produce the astonishing 'Kronenbourg'.

'Kronenbourg'. 21 plants. 4 years. Average height 4-5 feet. N.R.S. rating 7.9. Dunedin: Always a joy. Blooms perfect, fades only if unshaded. Christchurch: Growth is typical of 'Peace'. Colour is reasonable if you don't let them fade on the bush. Whangarei: Colour too harsh.
