‘Gärtendirektor Otto Linne’. Syn: ‘Otto Linne’ Modern Shrub. Despite its cumbersomely Germanic name, this 1934 Modern Shrub Rose from Peter Lambert has had a recent revival in America. It deserves it too, with its compact habit, handsome leathery green leaves and constant production of big sprays of deep pink pompoms. It is a little like a double-flowered version of ‘Ballerina’. Which you choose depends on whether you like double or single flowers. Alas, there is not much scent. ‘Robin Hood’ x ‘Rudolph Kluis’ Repeat flowering.
