Origin:
Bred by Maréchal (France, 1833).
Class:
Bourbon.  
Bloom:
Violet-red.  Moderate fragrance.  Average diameter 3.5".  Large, very double, borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, flat, quartered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Large, long sepals, ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Few or no prickles/thorns.  5 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
When on own-root, or grafted on a weak understock, this rose is said to be less full and cupped.
