Origin:
Bred by Jacques-Julien Margottin père (1817-1892) (France, before 1852).
Introduced in Australia by Northampton Nurseries in 1861 as 'Gloire de France'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red, crimson shading.  Large, double (17-25 petals), expanded bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
